LIFESTYLE MEDICINE TEAM

Headshot of Dr Katie Cederberg

Katie Cederberg, PhD
Postdoctoral Researcher
Stanford University

Dr. Cederberg is a postdoctoral researcher at Stanford University whose work examines the interplay between genetics, protein changes, exercise, and sleep in relation to overall sleep health. She investigates how physical activity can enhance sleep quality and addresses related sleep disorders, aiming to understand the biological mechanisms that underlie these effects.
A key aspect of her approach involves engaging directly with individuals experiencing sleep challenges to identify research needs and barriers to maintaining an active lifestyle. This stakeholder input has guided the development of evidence-based exercise programs designed to promote better sleep hygiene and foster increased physical activity.
Dr. Cederberg holds a PhD in Rehabilitation Science, as well as bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Exercise Science. A Certified Personal Trainer since 2011, she emphasizes behavior-change strategies in her practice to assist individuals in adopting and sustaining healthy activity habits. She aims to build a research program focused on defining practical exercise prescriptions — such as timing, type, intensity, and duration — that can help manage sleep disturbances and improve overall sleep health.
